On Saturday the 28th me and my radio partner Nicky are co-presenting the Summer Live Music Fest, it is for a local charity in SW London called Hillcroft .
Dave Clarke, one of the driving forces behind it, is an inspiration, I mean, how many people just wake up in the morning and say “I’m going to put a concert on”. Dave did.
We intend to make a podcast backstage, this will be used as a great bit of podcast marketing, and as a presell for next year, audio marketing at its best.
I will post the podcast here when it is ready.

Well, just a beer fest. Locally to me, but the audio marketing comes in for them, with a mention on the local radio station Radio Jackie. It’s a bit of showbiz, and everyone loves it!
If you were podcast marketing with an event like this, you would have a lot of material to work with, there were goats, sheep, loads of beer, cider, Morris men and women, a bar b- que, and more beer.
And even more beer.
A way to do this, would be to take a little pop mike attached to an MP3 recorder, then edit it up later.
I recently helped a local Wildlife Centre do some podcast marketing, their first step to radio online, and you can listen below.
Notice how the music, tones of voice and everything else matches the style of what we are conveying.
If you would like to see the pictures from the beer fest, they are on my other blog- www.neillongonline.com

One of the best things about radio online, is that at the moment, there are not really any rules. So if you think commercial radio can be a bit restrictive…. well you can see where I am going here… because in the world of podcasting, there are nt really any rules. It is much, much less restrictive than normal radio. Pretty much you can say what you want, so if you want to be controversial or the latest Howard Stern….
Now, if you are audio marketing, then you probably wont want to be contrversial- or will you? Perhaps you might strongly dislike something in the market, and say so…. some will agree with your preferences, some wont, but so what.
Or, you might want to be the nice guy and gently review everything in the market.
Audio marketing can take many forms. Preselling perhaps in a conversational way.
Podcast marketing is so much freer, just decide what style you want to be, and go for it. How controversial do you dare be?

Can I have my own radio online show?
Yes.
In an hours time. Seriously.
If you go there now, you will see an incredible selection of radio programs ready for your delectation, and you can be there too.
It’s a great form of audio marketing, and as I say, you can be set up within an hour!
Perhaps others are there in a similar niche to you. They are of course contactable, and you could maybe pay for advertising to beon their shows.
The best technique, I reckon is to find out the buzz in the niche, and do a show that almost solves a problem- the complete solution of course, well, that’s your product!
If you are wanting a great way to keep up on the buzz in your niche, and not suffer with “Information Overload”, indeed, you can become an “information overlord” as my friend and cyber colleague Jack Humphrey says, I recommend Blog Success. You can get started for $1, and it’s a small monthly membership after that.
Its quite a learning curve, but worth it eventually.
But even if you don’t go for that, you can still conduct some research and go for it. If you go to google sroups, or a group on one of the social networks, they can help you.
You can glean quite easily what the buzz in your niche is. Then create some simple “audio marketing” also known as radio content.
Make sure the keywords are promoted in the write up so you will be seo friendly, and hey presto, you’re out there.Get feedback. Then make more content based on that feedback
and you’re rolling.

Podcasting, is a great form of audio marketing. If you have a product or service and you want to promote it more, one of the best and most effective ways to support your brand, is podcast marketing.
But, the eternal question, what DO I put in the podcast. Where do I source it from? How do I know what on earth to talk about?
OK, so this post will focus on content, where to source it from, how to keep it real.
First, find out where your people are. Where do they hang out? What social networks? What forums? What is the buzz in the niche?
Because when you find out what they are saying… you can make podcast content to answer their questions.
This brands you as an expert straight away, and a trusted voice. We all know you want to be known, liked and trusted if you want people to buy from you, and that’s fair enough of course.
…and if you have a regular radio online show, talking about the latest buzz in the niche, you , yes YOU, will become one of the trusted voices. And you will attract people in similar and complemantary niches wanting
to be in touch with you, and perhaps to have you on their shows- more cross promotion of course. I recently did this with a chap called Chris Sherrod www.abundanceunlimited.com- and I enclose the audio below- as an example of what I mean.
Enjoy the marketing and branding lesson, and the podcast marketing lesson!!
Radio online has opened up a myriad of opportunities for people to get out there, share their wares, and have fun.

People are using audio marketing more and more today, it is proven that audio (or video) makes a dramatic difference to how long people stay on your site.
We are rightly called the Attention Age, and if you have what your customers are looking for, they will stay on your site longer.
We can, as John Williams says in his brilliant book “Screw Work Lets Play”, we add to the signal not the noise.
Think about it, if you are looking for a product or service online, what would make you stay on the site longer, someone there to welcome you, with a friendly audio message, or just words?
Clearly, the audio message works every time, if it’s done right.
So how do you do podcast marketing more effectively?
Do you need to be a professional radio presenter to do it?
Luckily, the answer is no. Radio online is easy to do, you just need a cheap microphone and a few relevant words to say all about your product.
And that can be done in a few minutes. Yes, there are tips and tricks that I can teach you, to sound more authoritative, because credibility in audio marketing is important.
Yet creating a short recording and uploading it is easy and helps wonderfully to sell your product or service.
And who knows, perhaps you will be a pro radio person before you know it!
Here is a short intro I made for my podcast course, it took no more than a few mins.
